Since the dawn of civilisation man has been fascinated by the stars, and throughout every century strived to try understand them.

With the landing of curiosity just hours away, we present to you the "Red Planet" mapping competition!!

Create a map for any PC game based around a mission to Mars.
Check out our image gallery for a whole load of inspirational images!

Below are a few interesting concepts to get those creative juices flowing!

- In the year 2050 the ESA form the first human colony on Mars... Unfortunately we're not alone!!
- Terrorists are holding the worlds super-rich hostage on board Virgin Galactic's first "space tourism" trip to Mars.
- A new space-race has begun, sabotage your competitors spaceship before it can launch.
- [Counter-strike] Eco-Terrorists have kidnapped NASA scientists at the Kennedy space center just hours before launch.
- [L4D] There has been an outbreak of an unknown pathogen on-board a spaceship returning from Mars and all the crew have turned to Zombies!!
- [TF2] RED have discovered BLU are building a top-secret death ray on Mars! Stop them before its completion!
- [DOD] The Allies have discovered Hitler's obsession with UFO's and the Axis are preparing to retrieve evidence of a crashed Martian space ship!

**Contest Rules**: Entry must be a playable map for any PC game.
Entries must be submitted to Maps > GameBanana > The Red Planet Contest.
Entries can be team created but teams will have to decide how to split the prize.
Entries cannot be modified after the deadline except for changes to the submission profile (changing descriptions, notes or screenshots).
Judges cannot enter or assist entrants.
